UPMC Public Relations Department Connects to The Switch
The Public Relations department of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) and the University of Pittsburgh Schools of the Health Sciences has recently installed a 1.485 Gbps HD-SDI connection to The Pittsburgh Switch.
Physicians, executives, and scientists representing hundreds of areas of research, care, and perspective are available for live television interviews to share their expertise from an on-site studio. UPMC provides some of the nation’s leading experts including cancer, women’s health, pediatrics, heart and vascular issues, orthopaedics, sports medicine, emergency care, trauma services, psychiatry, neurology, surgery, sleep, organ transplantation rehabilitation therapy, telemedicine, health insurance, among many other areas of expertise. Pitt’s Schools of the Health Sciences are focused on the training of tomorrow’s health care providers, including those in dentistry, nursing, medicine, rehabilitation, public health and pharmacy. Experts in these schools have an intense focus on research to advance those disciplines.
UPMC’s high-definition studio features three set-up options — a ‘standard’ set with variable backgrounds, an office set, and a green-screen set. All set-ups employ the latest HD video camera and lighting technology. Their studio is available to provide live talk-back interviews with medical experts 24/7.
A world-renowned health care provider and insurer, Pittsburgh-based UPMC is the largest nongovernmental employer in Pennsylvania and integrates 60,000 employees, more than 20 hospitals, more than 500 doctors’ offices and outpatient sites, and a 3 million-member Insurance Services Division.
