Bay Microsystems Targets Data Challenges With Innovative Solutions

The Sports Video Group is pleased to welcome Bay Microsystems as a corporate sponsor. The data-solutions company addresses challenges with geographically dispersed data regardless of network capacity, data volume, application, or location. Since 2006, Bay Microsystems’ innovative offerings have made complex, distributed applications possible by increasing the value, accessibility, and management of an organization’s data.

bay-microsystemsMaximizing the value of distributed digital data assets has become even more strategic for an increasing number of businesses. This requires real-time transfer of and access to terabytes of data without regard for location — regionally, nationally, or globally. Bay’s Max Data Xchange (MDX) is designed to unleash the value of data assets by maximizing available bandwidth and minimizing data replication and transfer between locations, enabling optimal performance and operational efficiencies. It empowers organizations to streamline distributed workflows, improve productivity, and enhance collaboration using data in place.

“Joining SVG was a natural choice for our company. SVG’s initiatives to inform the market about innovative technology solutions is unparalleled in the industry,” says Harry Carr, CEO/president, Bay Microsystems. “We are confident that Bay’s MDX solution will help the industry resolve a number of complex issues with remote data access, movement, and management.”

The NFL relies on Bay MDX for significantly improved bandwidth utilization and enhanced remote data access, leading to a lower cost structure for expanded data usage with increased productivity and simplified operator interaction with the BC/DR workflow. The result has been more-robust BC/DR workflow processes, which minimize the risk of experiencing broadcast interruptions of game video associated with potential data loss at the Atlanta Master Control Center. A data-driven workflow versus a video-recording–based workflow reduced transfer time of 1 hour of HD content (equal to 27.7 GB) to <4 minutes over a 1-Gbps link. The NFL also identified a new distributed workflow for digital-media-content generation and playback (previously, not operationally viable), expanding MDX’s applicability to other workflow challenges besides BC/DR.
