NAB Show NY: Nevion To Spotlight VideoIPath 5, Virtuoso Software Platforms

Nevion (booth 924) will showcase how broadcasters can continue the journey to virtualization, with a host of interoperability demonstrations and technology showcases at NAB Show New York. In the spotlight will be the new VideoIPath 5 software and Nevion Virtuoso, a new software-driven media node platform, which is being shown for the first time in the US. Both solutions are designed to meet the emerging network and service management challenges in a world where the distinction between the facilities and contribution is blurring and where virtualization will play an increasing role. The solutions are therefore relevant for both broadcasters and service providers involved in IP production.

Nevion logo_without straplineVideoIPath 5 is a major software upgrade in terms of architecture and functionality to enable an even higher level of scalability, responsiveness and ease of use. It also offers a raft of new features to enhance the monitoring of links, devices and services.

The new Nevion Virtuoso platform can be used to perform a variety of tasks, including compression and decompression, transport protection, monitoring, and signal processing, which can be changed on demand through software licensing. The initial release of the platform is focused on wide area network (WAN) functionality, such as contribution networks, with local area network (LAN) functionality for campus and in-facility being announced in the near future.

“As a broadcaster, whether you are looking for cost-efficiency, enhanced flexibility or maximizing productivity, we believe the transition from baseband to IP can revolutionize your workflow,” says Geir Bryn-Jensen, CEO, Nevion. “As a company we’re focused on working with our broadcast clients to provide them with the best IP-based solutions that will ultimately assist in increasing efficiencies whether that is working with them on the transition from baseband to IP, or implementing full IP solutions, in live production, or both in studio and remote.

“We’re keen to demonstrate this capability to the US market once again, and introduce broadcasters to the updates in our portfolio, as well as the brand new Virtuoso platform that will play a key role in their IP workflows.”
