Encompass Partners With British Film Institute to Deliver Content to China

Encompass Digital Media is partnering with the BFI (British Film Institute) to process and distribute film assets to China’s iQiyi, a native subscription video on-demand platform. The films, curated by the BFI include a selection of classic, contemporary, independent and foreign films, are now available to more than 20 million paid iQiyi subscribers.

Print“Working with Encompass enabled us to deliver a high volume of high-quality content efficiently and seamlessly,” said Kerensa Samanidis, head of digital products at the BFI.

Video-on-demand (VOD) continues to penetrate markets globally making it critical for traditional broadcasters and content providers to offer consumers a variety of viewing capabilities. According to a Nielsen March 2016 study around the growth and adoption of VOD globally, 65 percent of respondents said they do watch some form of VOD programming and, in addition, 32 percent of respondents have plans to cut the traditional cable cord in favor of VOD.

“Encompass provides similar services to multiple content producers across the globe on a daily basis, and we are excited to extend our offerings to the British Film Institute,” states Chris Walters, Encompass CEO. “Our platform will assist the BFI in broadening their reach within a key territory without compromising the quality and reliability of the content and service,” he says.

Every day, Encompass services over 850 channels worldwide, processes over 25,000 hours of content and streams 3,000 hours of content for TV and over-the-top content. Encompass also acquires and distributes live streams for more than 250 live events on a daily basis.
