Dell EMC OEM Helps ATEME Transform the Broadcast Industry

Dell EMC OEM Solutions is collaborating with leading video compression expert ATEME to provide the company with the servers and storage needed to expand its solutions catalogue. As a result of the performance of Dell EMC’s solutions, ATEME is able to provide higher density solutions while maintaining high video quality, lowering customers’ OpEx and CapEx costs and providing the flexibility needed to scale without service disruption.

As broadcasters and operators follow the trend of virtualising their workflow, there’s a need for a reliable solutions base that can work hand-in-hand with their applications and software requirements. In light of this change to the video infrastructure market, it is crucial for ATEME to find a hardware partner that could work well alongside its existing partnership with Inteland deliver a high performance server and storage base quickly.

dell_logoATEME chose Dell EMC OEM Solutions due to its strong partnership with Intel and commitment to delivering a comprehensive, bespoke solution for the company. Dell EMC partnered with ATEME and Intel to develop a platform consisting of Dell EMC PowerEdge R330, R430, R630, R730 and C4310 and Dell EMC PowerVault MD1000. In addition to the infrastructure platform, Dell EMC also offered ATEME unique services in the form of Custom Factory Integration (CFI). CFI allowed ATEME to focus on its customers, while Dell EMC handled designing, building and testing the solutions to create an optimised platform for imaging and GPU integration. With a global footprint and world-class support model, Dell EMC was able to help ATEME assuage historical pain points such as long lead-times for deployments and quality of technical support.

“We didn’t want just a supplier, we wanted a partner and Dell EMC went the extra mile by testing and fine-tuning the joint solution to reach the highest performances and the best efficiency. Partnership is clearly part of Dell EMC’s DNA and we were impressed by the fact that the team was prepared to invest time and significant resources in product development,” says Michel Artières, CEO, ATEME.

“ATEME is a key market player in video compression and the service it delivers to its customers changes the way that we see the world. With well-known broadcast companies benefitting from the service our customer offers, it’s extremely important that it has the infrastructure necessary to power its work. Our work with ATEME to provide a strong platform that is flexible enough to handle the fluctuating requirements of video builds on our long-term commitment to this industry and the work we’ve completed with surveillance and security and video and digital production companies over the past two decades,” says Dermot O’Connell, vice president, OEM and IoT Solutions, EMEA, Dell EMC.

Dell EMC will continue to work with ATEME, running joint customer seminars across the globe and focusing on innovating within the broadcast industry.
