NAB 2017: FileCatalyst Leverages Lessons From Rio Games in Latest Version of FileCatalyst Central

FileCatalyst (SL10716), which offers managed file transfers and an accelerated file transfer solution, is showcasing the latest update, Version 3.7, to their product suite. FileCatalyst Central v3.7 gives clients a completely new way to monitor and manage their FileCatalyst deployments across the globe. Tried and proven at the 2016 summer games in Rio with a large US broadcaster, Central is a pure HTML based interface that lets clients monitor real time transfers, system health, reports and the management of all aspects of deployed FileCatalyst applications.

Clients can organize their global deployments visually using the new map overlay feature and quickly identify active links between nodes across the deployment. This lets users solve problems quickly and edit the settings of remote locations, without the need for remote desktop access. Central also gives users the ability to set up ad-hoc transfers between locations, all from a single web console.

“We are excited to introduce the next generation of FileCatalyst products at this year’s NAB Show,” said Chris Bailey, CEO of FileCatalyst. “With FileCatalyst Central, we have revolutionized the way multinational enterprises manage their FileCatalyst deployments. Outside of Central, we have added several new object storage integrations and further expanded our ISV partner portfolio.”

FileCatalyst Direct 3.7 has taken object storage integration to the next level. FileCatalyst is the only file transfer solution vendor in the media broadcast space that provides a file system style interface for object storage, while providing multi-gigabit transfer speeds. Building on previous integrations with Amazon S3 and Microsoft Azure, FileCatalyst now supports OpenStack Swift, Caringo and Cloudian storage. They have also announced that more integrations will be coming in the next several months. Thanks to extensive integrations with 3rd party MAM and Workflow providers, FileCatalyst lets clients leverage the benefits of object storage while using their existing infrastructure.

FileCatalyst has also released a new reverse proxy application which allows full access to a FileCatalyst Server that’s hosted behind restrictive firewalls, without the need for open incoming ports. Other acceleration software requires one or several ports to be open, which may expose a network to attacks. The FileCatalyst reverse proxy alleviates these concerns and provides the benefits of acceleration, even in the most secure environments.
