NBC Sports Regional Networks Post Most-Streamed Month on Record

Live minutes, unique devices for NBA coverage up double digits year-over-year

On the strength of NBA, NHL and MLB all streaming simultaneously for the first time, NBC Sports Regional Networks posted their most-streamed month on record in April, garnering 67 million total minutes consumed. Overall, NBC Sports Regional Networks streaming of MLB, NHL and NBA games has generated more than 250 million minutes across 831 games during the 2016/17 seasons on local CSN regional network websites, NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app. NHL offering delivers 48.9 million minutes in first full season of streaming.

In the first full season of streaming NHL games, including first round of the playoffs, the NBC Sports Regional Networks delivered 48.9 million total live minutes across 298,000 unique devices. CSN Chicago’s digital coverage of the Chicago Blackhawks contributed the most to the season total, earning 15.7 million live minutes across 95,000 unique devices, and delivering two out of the top five most-streamed games.

Listed are the top five NHL games, all from the first round of the playoffs, which delivered the most unique devices and live minutes:

On April 17, 2017 the Blackhawks-Predators Game 3 on CSN Chicago has 21, 191 unique devices and 1,719,029 total minutes. On April 15, Marple Leafs-Capitals Game 2 on CSN Mid-Atlantic has 10,012 Unique Devices and a total of 810, 595 minutes. April 13, Predators-Blackhawks Game 1 on CSN Chicago had 8,577 unique devices used and a total number of 628,228 minutes. April 19th, Capitals-Maple Leafs Game 4 on CSN Mid-Atlantic had 9,727 unique devices used with a total of 558, 568 minutes. Finally, on April 17 for the Capitals-Maple Leafs Game 3 on CSN Mid-Atlantic, there were 9,178 unique devices used with a total number of 554,828 minutes.

Local MLB streaming accumulates 36 million live minutes in first month of season. NBC Sports Regional Networks’ streaming of local market MLB games totaled more than 36 million total live minutes across 262,000 unique devices in the first month of the MLB season. Since the offering launched on April 2, NBC Sports Bay Area’s coverage of the San Francisco Giants has seen the most significant numbers, delivering more than 12 million total live minutes across 95,000 unique devices, and two out of the top five most-streamed games.

On April 4, 2017, the Angels-Athletics game on NBC Sports California there were a total number of 14,352 unique devices with a total of 889, 679 minutes. On April 27, the Dodgers-Giants game on NBC Sports Bay Area, had a total number of 15,989 unique devices with a total number of 877, 201 minutes. April 13, the Mets-Marlins game on SNY had 11,298 unique devices with 860,153 minutes. On April 3, Braves-Mets game aired on SNY, had 16,483 unique devices with 797,625 total minutes. Finally, on April 5, Giants-Diamondbacks game aired on NBC Sports Bay Area had 16,385 unique devices and 763, 652 total minutes.
