David Hill To Keynote Fourth-Annual LiveTV:LA Conference, July 19

Live-TV producer/exec to address the art of sports and entertainment production

Live-television leader David Hill will be keynoting the Fourth-Annual LiveTV:LA conference on July 19 at the Sheraton Universal Hotel in Los Angeles. Hill, a pioneer in both sports and live entertainment TV, will address the growing convergence of production techniques for these two forms of video programming.

Best-known as chairman of the Fox Sports Media Group, Hill more recently served as chairman of the National Geographic Channels and as executive producer of American Idol. He launched his own production company, Hilly Inc., in July 2015 to produce the 88th Oscars, which received critical acclaim when it aired on ABC in February 2016. Last year, he also produced Alibaba Group’s 11.11 Global Shopping Festival Countdown, the international retailer’s flagship event.

Described by Rupert Murdoch as a “dynamic and imaginative leader who has changed the experience of nearly all major sports on three continents,” Hill ran Fox Sports for 20 years. He has received numerous Emmys for his live broadcasts and holds patents for several television enhancements, including the famed NFL first-down line.

Hill also co-produced the 88th Academy Awards telecast, which aired on ABC, with Reginald Hudlin in 2016

Hill’s keynote will kick off a full day of panels and presentations that will include two co-located events:

  • SVG Sports Imaging Forum
  • Facebook Live Bootcamp

LiveTV: is designed to address the latest creative, technology, and business trends in television’s fastest-growing category: live production. Last year, more than 300 producers and their technical staffs came together to explore live TV production for entertainment, sports, reality, news, and social media. The sessions and industry networking were supported by hands-on demos by more than 30 technology exhibitors.
