IBC 2017: Canon offers glimpse into the future of broadcast and cinema

Canon will showcase a new era in seamless workflows for attendees at IBC 2017. With increasing scrutiny on 4K, Canon will demonstrate how its workflow solutions are set to enable more efficient and cost effective production for broadcasters and filmmakers alike, said the company.

With products focused on the future needs of the industry and feedback from customers, Canon will showcase its all-encompassing professional imaging range, from input to output. Among the products on display will be the compelling combination of the new Canon professional 4K/UHD/50P entry into the Cinema EOS range, the EOS C200, and the CN-E70-200 mm T4.4 L IS cine-lens and the CN E18-80mm T4.4 L IS KAS S.

Built for professionals the EOS C200 is the first Cinema EOS camera to feature the Cinema RAW light format[i]. Designed to take the complexity out of delivering high quality footage, the EOS C200 offers a host of benefits to broadcasters and filmmakers, featuring an advanced AF system that provides reliability and accuracy when shooting 4K. It also includes a high quality LCD panel, which allows the operator to effortlessly select their subject. For those who need to switch seamlessly between several subjects in a single shot, the Dual Pixel CMOS AF enables smooth AF operation whilst the manual focus assist function, face detection with face priority and face-only options provide greater creative focus control.

The CN-E70-200 mm T4.4 L IS cine-lens and the CN E18-80mm T4.4 L IS KAS S are just two of Canon’s compact cine-servo versatile lenses. Designed for professional and advanced amateur videographers using large format, single-sensor cameras, these lenses unlock the creative freedom to take advantage of 4K, integrated servo control and effortless switching between several subjects in a single shot. They ensure video can be captured with the upmost precision and quality.

“The world of cinema and TV is radically changing on every level, from workflows all the way through to how production teams shoot and display footage,” said Richard Shepherd, Pro marketing manager, consumer imaging, Canon Europe. “At this exciting and challenging time, Canon’s innovations are continuously shifting to meet the fluctuating needs of broadcasters and filmmakers, and the recent launch of the EOS C200 is testament to this. From solo operators to larger production teams, Canon delivers high-quality, ease-of-use and flexibility that empowers creative shooting potential.”
