SET Expo 2017: SAM To Highlight Live Sports Production, Replay Workflows

At SET Expo 2017, on stand 65, Snell Advanced Media (SAM) will be highlighting its live sports production and replay workflows; a complete, flexible, and cost-effective IP routing system; multi-format production switchers; and playout solutions.

Live Production and Replay Solutions
LiveTouch offers efficient sports highlights and replay workflow in either SD/HD or 4K/UHD. It offers a unique management system minimizing movements of media in editing and replay workflow. LiveTouch is also integrated with SAM editors, enabling collaboration between replay and production. Users can also instantly publish highlights and replays straight to social media.

Kula Multi-format Production Switchers
Kula (available as 1, 2 and 3 M/E versions) easily handles multiple formats making it both future-proof and adaptable for today’s production environments. A wide choice of control panels (up to 24 crosspoints) and access to up to 42 inputs makes operations easy, giving users more time to work on other elements within the live production environment. If working in 4K/UHD, Kula becomes a 1M/E switcher that can support 12G-SDI.

SAM’s Playout Solution
SAM’s ICE channel-in-a-box and Morpheus playout automation solution will be on show at SET Expo. Having been deployed across the world, either in-house, stand-alone or as an outsourced multi-channel/multi-client solution, ICE meets all the operational, technical, regulatory and commercial functionality required for broadcast playout. ICE can now be deployed as a software defined channel running in private cloud instances allowing flexibility for customers.

LiveTouch 4K

Master Control Switcher
Brand new, and on show at SET Expo, is Masterpiece 12G-SDI, a UHD master control switcher. Handling SD/HD/1080p and UHD, Masterpiece 12G-SDI allows broadcasters to move into UHD workflows without any compromise in quality and capability and provides branding functionality such as keying and DVE for squeeze backs and effects. Masterpiece provides a control interface to SAM’s Morpheus playout automation solution and when used in combination, the two systems deliver ideal content distribution and flexible device management.

 SAM’s IP Routing System
SAM’s IP Routing System offers a flexible and cost effective IP routing solution. The system is supports multiple signal types including SMTE 2022-6 and SMTE 2022-7; VSF TR-03 and 04. SAM’s IP solution is also ready to support the new SMPTE 2110 suite of standards as adopted by AIMS.  Other key features include:

Next-generation Routing and Processing
The Vega suite of routers deliver functionality at price points that suit a range of budgets. Being shown at SET Expo is the Vega 30 router which is ideal for small fixed applications, such as small outside broadcast trucks and studios. It combines powerful video and audio routing capability in a 3RU mainframe with built-in signal processing. Simple configuration set up, and clean-and-quiet switching options makes the Vega 30 ideal for applications where smooth transitions, de-embedding and embedding and full MADI audio routing are key.

High Quality Standards Conversion for All Framerates
Also on show at SET Expo is SAM’s LC350 compact synchronizer and video/audio processor. The LC350 is an easy to use, cost effective video and audio processing unit. Fitting in to 1RU of rack space the LC350 includes a wealth of processing and I/O including SDI, CVBS, AES and analog audio as well as fiber Tx/Rx and HDMI monitoring. SAM will also be demonstrating its MC2000 motion compensated, dual channel, standards converter with motion adaptive up, down and cross conversion.
