The SVG Podcast: Rob Mikulicka, Director of Operations, ESL

Esports is booming, but how will it be broadcast in the future?

On this edition of The SVG Podcast we take a look at the much-hyped world of esports. Platforms like Twitch, YouTube, Daily Motion, Azubu, and much more have been bringing live esports streams to gamers around the world for some time, but now major networks are getting into the mix. We’re here to talk about the aspect of it that’s most near and dear to our hearts: the broadcasting of it.

We welcome Rob Mikulicka, the director of operations for ESL on the show. Rob has an extensive television background going back to his days at NBC Sports and NEP. Now he’s taken on the role of cracking the code of how to best produce and broadcast a live esports event for multi-platform distribution. How does he tell that story and what technology does he use to do it?

He answered those questions on the stage at our LiveTV:LA conference out in Universal City last month.

The SVG Podcast is for the sports video production professional looking to keep up with the latest in sports video production operations, and technology. The program features interviews with some of the biggest, most influential names in the sports video business talking trends and topics that are making an impact on the industry.
