EVS Enables Xiamen Media Group To Produce 4K Recording of BRICS China 2017
Chinese TV broadcasting company, the Xiamen Media Group, will implement EVS technology to deliver coverage of BRICS China 2017 – the eighth annual meeting between Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. This event in the region’s political schedules will be captured live in HD by XMG’s Xiamen TV. The programming will be broadcast on its news channel XMTV-1 and on CCTV-1 as well as CCTV-4, CCTV-13 and China Radio International. To accompany these broadcasts, Xiamen TV will also produce programming in UHD-4K – a feed which will be recorded for future use as well as for online broadcast.
“We develop our products to best serve users all around the world and like many HD productions, the deployment of UHD-4K technology from EVS is becoming the norm for workflows operating in the higher resolution,” says Raymond Chen, vp China at EVS. “That’s what makes the XT4K such an important tool in the live production process – it brings the signature speed and reliability of EVS technology to the latest, most cutting-edge live productions.”
To cover this high-profile event, Xiamen Media Group will deploy a number of EVS solutions, including XT4K and XT3 live production servers, IPDirector content management systems, XFile3file transfer tool and Ingest Funnel applications. These live production tools will allow Xiamen to reliably produce and broadcast the event in UHD-4K.
Implemented into Xiamen’ Media Group’s production center, the EVS servers will ingest up to 20 HD signals as well as several UHD-4K feeds. IPDirector will allow operators to attach metadata to ingested content as well as make online edits to ingested assets and create and manage content playlists. Editors using the center’s NLE systems will be able to easily browse and search content using added metadata, which lets them take advantage of intuitive integration across the production infrastructure through a joined-up server system and post-production facilities.
“The BRICS summit is such a significant event for current affairs in the region so we want to make sure we have the best infrastructure to give it the live coverage it deserves,” says ZOU Binghui, deputy director of production at XMTV. “We have a lot of faith in EVS technology to help us deliver these kinds of projects so on completion of this production, we’ll continue to deploy the XT4K server and XFile3 transfer tools for multiple upcoming productions.”
Facilities by Xiamen TV will be deployed to cover BRICS China 2017, held in host city Xiamen, China September 3-5, 2017.
