BTN to Produce Select Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament Games in 4K

Game Creek Video truck to be used on games produced at Madison Square Garden in 2018

While college football season is just getting underway this week, BTN already has big plans in place for its grand finale of the men’s basketball season in March. According to BTN’s SVP, production and executive producer Mark Hulsey, the network will make its first ever foray into 4K when it produces a select number of games from the Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament slated to be held February 28 through March 4, 2018 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Details of the production are, naturally, not available just yet but Hulsey did note that the plan is to work with top mobile production facility provider Game Creek Video on the shows.

As of now only select games – not the entire tournament – will be produced in 4K and its undetermined where those games will available for viewing (though AT&T’s DirecTV or a streaming platform are the only viable options in the U.S. currently).

While it will be BTN’s first 4K productions, the network will have plenty of experience within the family to fall back on. Just this week, Fox Sports – which is majority owner of BTN – announced it would be producing 13 college football games this season in 4K. In addition, many of those games will be Big Ten matchups and Fox will be using Mobile TV Group’s 39FLEX to support the shows.
