Live From the US Open: hsc.tv Relies on Panasonic VariCams to Create Unique Content in Queens

At the U.S. Open Tennis Championships, New York City-based production company hsc.tv is fielding a Panasonic VariCam 35, two VariCam HSs and two VariCan LT. hsc.tv is using the VariCam 35 and VariCam LT to produce specialty portraits with players and interviews. The footage is being used for broadcast elements and stories on ESPN as well as on social media.

For high-speed match footage, hsc.tv transitions to the VariCam HS for long lens high frame rate video acquisition shooting frame rates from 120fp to 240fps. For behind the scenes elements, hsc.tv uses the VLT with EF mounts for capturing players during workouts and training.

For the past three years, hc.tv has used the VariCam 35 4K cinema and two VariCam HS high-speed 2/3” cameras on diverse, award-winning projects ranging from network sports to documentary features to television promos and commercials. Most recently, the production company added the VariCam LT 4K cinema camcorder to its roster of current generation VariCam products.

“Having all three VariCam models at our disposal gives us an excellent set of tools in the field—all the tools we need for the wide-ranging projects we shoot and the gamut of ‘looks’ these projects require,” says hsc.tv partner and Sports Emmy award-winning cinematographer Bryan Brousseau.
