SportsEngine Announces Partnership With TopYa! Video-Based Mobile App

SportsEngine and TopYa!, a video-based mobile app, have partnered to integrate TopYa!’s content with SportsEngine’s platform. Through this integration, SportsEngine customers can upload TopYa! video skills challenges onto their websites and social media channels. The partnership will allow leagues, teams and camps to highlight individual athlete accomplishments, drive more at-home practice, and deepen brand engagement with their members. The initial integration rollout will include TopYa!’s apps for Soccer, Volleyball, and Lacrosse (The Paul Rabil Experience).

Traditionally, coaches ask kids to practice at home without a way to evaluate their skills, reward extra practice, or hold athletes accountable. With TopYa!, young athletes can pursue skills and freestyle activities at home by participating in video challenges and contests with other kids around the world. Coaches can evaluate and provide feedback on the young athletes’ videos, and athletes earn points for their accomplishments. This leads to better engagement with the sports organization and more practice minutes, on a single platform.

“So many of our customers are looking for ways to further engage with their athletes and families,” says Justin Kaufenberg, CEO, SportsEngine. “Through our new partnership with TopYa! we’re able to provide an interactive solution that will allow their athletes to stay involved away from the field, and provide an enhanced content experience for their website and social channels.”

Many sports organizations have chosen SportsEngine to run their website, tournaments, leagues, online registration and mobile apps. Through these applications, over 650,000 sports teams, clubs, and leagues are able to reduce the time they spend on administration and communication, allowing them to focus on spending time with their athletes. Momentum in all sports has accelerated for SportsEngine with recent agreements signed with governing bodies, organizations, and teams.

“The TopYa! app brings back the kid-driven, sandlot environment that has faded for this generation,” says John Weinerth, VP of Soccer, SportsEngine. “The TopYa! platform makes sports fun again for the athletes through the very mobile devices that otherwise compete for their time, attention and level of activity.”

“We are thrilled to partner with SportsEngine to offer more engagement solutions directly to the consumers of sports- parents and athletes. Their commitment to improving the sports lives of athletes, parents, and coaches perfectly matches our mission to keep sports fun for everyone,” says Jason Keller, Managing Partner and Co-Founder of TopYa!. “Studies show that 70% of athletes quit sports by age 13. With this integration and SportsEngine’s reach into over 650,000 youth sports organizations, we can make a big impact in reversing this trend.”

The integration will be available in October for any SportsEngine or TopYa! customer.
