NAB NY 2017: Ikegami To Demo Advanced Camera Systems

Ikegami will demonstrate its advanced systems at the 2017 NAB Show New York. This year’s convention is themed “Media in Action,” and will be held October 18-19 at the Javits Convention Center in New York City.

Featured at the show will be the UHK-430 4K camera from the company’s Unicam XE camera series. Designed for use in the studio and field, the UHK-430 provides Ikegami’s superb imagery in true 4K. It features three 2/3-inch 4K (3840×2160) CMOS sensors with RGB prism optics, for “Real 4K” resolution from 24 million pixels (8 million per sensor).

Equipped with Ikegami’s latest AXII ASIC for low power and superior digital signal processing features, the UHK-430 attains 16-axis color correction from a 3D linear matrix. It also enables five Custom Gamma memories for HDR high dynamic range transfer characteristics, including HLG and iLog. The UHK-430 employs 40G transmission using standard SMPTE hybrid fiber/copper camera cable, uncompressed 4:4:4 resolution RGB transmission, with eight HD channels from CCU to camera, and one HD trunk channel from camera to CCU.

In addition, a Gigabit Ethernet connection is available on the Ikegami UHK-430 camera for external use. The UHK-430 is switchable between 4K and 2K formats.  As an option the CCU can output simultaneous 4K and 2K, with available 2K cutout from the 4K picture. A plug-in output module allows for flexible 4K signal formats including Quad 3G, 12G, and IP.

Several accessories to enhance the UHK-430 and future Unicam XE camera models will be shown. Newly available HDR compatibility will be on display. In addition, there are three accompanying viewfinders available, including the VFE741D, a 7.4-inch OLED viewfinder; the VFL701D, a 7-inch full HD resolution LCD viewfinder; and the VFL201D, a 2-inch portable LCD viewfinder. All three include a serial digital interface for integrated camera and viewfinder menu control. The SE-U430, a powerful system expander for the camera, is also an available accessory.

Also at NAB NY 2017 will be the HDK-73 camera, the latest addition to Ikegami’s Unicam HD camera series, featuring F12 high sensitivity 2/3-inch CMOS sensors with exceptional picture quality in either 1080i or 720p in a cost-effective camera system.  The HDK-73 has docking style construction allowing studio configuration with fiber or triax base stations, as well as self-contained operation for wireless or onsite recording applications.  Fiber configurations include a choice of SMPTE or OpticalCon connectors.  There is a full range of control panels from simple to sophisticated.

The HDK-73 includes new key features such as Ikegami’s Quick EZ Focus assist and CAC chromatic aberration correction.  Also included is HLG hybrid log gamma for HDR picture origination.

Ikegami monitors will be exhibited including the new HLM-960WR, a multi-format 9-inch monitor with Full HD (1920×1080) 8-bit LCD panel and LED backlight. A compact and affordable solution for various broadcast monitoring applications, the HLM-960WR includes a standard 3G-SDI input, and also features a high-performance Liquid Crystal Panel, diverse input sources, compatibility with embedded audio, DC operation, built-in marker function, user marker display function, and shadow function.

Additional features of the HLM-960WR include various built-in test signals, waveform monitor/vectorscope display functions, time code display function, 2-picture split display, dot-by-dot display function, and external memory function. It also includes Auto Setup *ASP-100, 5.1 Surround Down-Mix Output, white balance adjustment assist, image & test signal MIX functions, and 2x/4x zoom function.

The HEM-2570W 25-inch full HD OLED Grade-1 master monitor will also be on exhibit. Representing Ikegami’s next generation Grade-1 monitors, with high performance OLED panels, the HEM series ensures ideal reference monitoring for a wide range of production applications. Highlights include support of 10 patterns x 10 scenes for user markers, a USB terminal for support of functions including auto setup, saving an image, full-screen capturing and mouse connection for menu navigation. In addition, audio functions such as speakers and headphone terminal are provided.
