Jacksonville State University Unveils New Daktronics LED Video Display

Daktronics  has been asked to design, manufacture and install a new LED video display this summer for Jacksonville State University (JSU) at their stadium in Alabama. The university recently unveiled the new technology inside Burgess-Snow Field at JSU Stadium versus Liberty University and it will be showcased this Saturday as the Gamecocks host the Eastern Kentucky Colonels.

“The new state-of-the-art digital video board is a great enhancement to JSU Stadium,”says Greg Seitz, JSU Athletic Director. “JSU is committed to giving its great fans the best game-day experience possible, and with the installation of the largest video board in the Ohio Valley Conference, we are thrilled with the results.”

The new video display measures roughly 12 feet high by 80 feet wide and features a 13HD pixel layout – the same technology as used at Auburn University, home of the largest video display in college football.

The technology brings wide-angle visibility to appeal to every seat in the stadium as well as environmental protection to ensure consistent performance in the outdoor elements.

The display is capable of variable content zoning allowing it to show one large image or to be divided into multiple zones to show any combination of live video, instant replays, up-to-the-minute statistics, graphics and animations, and sponsorship messages.

“We’re proud to extend our long-standing partnership with JSU Athletics for this new video display upgrade,” says Glen Marts, Daktronics sales representative. “This new installation replaced the previous system we installed 10 years ago. I was excited to see what the new display brought to the already great atmosphere at Burgess-Snow Field at JSU Stadium.”

Also included with the installation was Daktronics’ Show Control System. This system provides a combination of display control software, world-class video processing, data integration and playback hardware that forms a user-friendly production solution.

In addition to the football video display, the university opted to upgrade their fixed-digit scoreboard at JSU Soccer Field. Installed this summer, the soccer scoreboard provides fans with all the critical statistics and information for every event including game time, score, shots, saves and more.
