Eutelsat Satellites Support Sports Broadcasters Worldwide

The Sports Video Group is pleased to welcome Eutelsat as a corporate sponsor. Headquartered in Paris, with offices and teleports around the globe, Eutelsat is an experienced operator of communications satellites. The company provides capacity on 39 satellites to clients that include broadcasters and broadcasting associations; pay-TV operators; video, data and internet-service providers; enterprises; and government agencies.

Eutelsat’s satellites provide ubiquitous coverage of Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia-Pacific, and the Americas, enabling video, data, broadband, and government communications to be established irrespective of a user’s location. Established in 1977, the company currently fields a workforce of 1,000 men and women from 37 countries who are experts in their fields and work with clients to deliver the highest-quality service.

“We are very excited to join the Sports Video Group as a sponsor and participant,” says Eutelsat Americas CEO Mike Antonovich. “Having been a member of SVG myself for many years, I already know the value of their seminars and sports-industry events and the significant contributions to the global sports-production and -transmission community that the SVG continues to provide. Eutelsat has long been a leader in sports-contribution and -delivery services, and we look forward to being an active member in the SVG.”

Earlier this year, Eutelsat’s satellites enabled media coverage of the Tour de France to be broadcast from the thousands of journalists onsite to audiences around the world. Nearly 2,000 hours was booked on three Eutelsat satellites — EUTELSAT 10A, EUTELSAT 16A, and EUTELSAT 12 West B — more than double the number of hours in previous years. Eutelsat also supported the UHD broadcast of the French Open via FRANSAT, Eutelsat’s free-to-view platform for French TV homes.
