G&D North America Taps Into Expanding Market for KVM in Sports Television

The Sports Video Group is pleased to welcome G&D North America as a corporate sponsor. For more than 30 years, G&D has engineered, manufactured, and delivered the best in KVM solutions across many television and video segments, serving sports-television applications with great success.

G&D North America, a wholly owned subsidiary of Guntermann & Drunck of Siegen, Germany, initiated formal North American operations in 2015, and it did not take long for prominent U.S. sports broadcasters to select G&D’s advanced KVM technology for the largest, most demanding applications. By joining SVG, G&D looks to better access the growing sports-KVM market across North America and to participate in a major way in advancing KVM-system architecture in sports-television applications, particularly KVM-over-IP, 4K 60, and HDR (high dynamic range).

“We are very grateful for the early support of the NBC Golf Channel and the MLB Network, which realized early on the high engineering and manufacturing quality, the superior video, virtually without latency, and the very attractive capex/opex benefits of the G&D KVM solutions,” says Tobias Dreier, COO/VP, sales, G&D North America. “We proudly join SVG now to get even closer to the future sports-television market, to continue to serve our industry with integrity and the highest regards for our customers.”

NBC Golf Channel commissioned its large G&D KVM installation in late 2014, with the first of three 288-port matrix switchers, adding two more 288-port switchers in 2015 and in 2017, respectively, achieving an exceptionally flexible KVM infrastructure. That’s 864 ports (less a few ports required for interconnection) delivering golf coverage to 84 countries in 13 languages.

In 2015, Major League Baseball, through its MLB Network, commissioned its first G&D KVM installation, which by now has grown to a central-matrix-switch installation (ControlCenter-Digital matrix frames) capable of switching between 576 ports (two 288 frames). One great advantage with the very wide G&D product line is the ease with which any existing system can easily be updated and expanded, which originally was an MLB requirement in the selection of G&D as the KVM vendor.

G&D has proudly engineered, manufactured, and delivered the best in KVM sports solutions to leading television, production/post, and remote facilities. Many around the world refer to G&D as “The KVM Sports Experts,” a term G&D takes very seriously.
