Cobalt Digital Releases Diginet Master Control Toolkit

Cobalt Digital has released its Diginet Master Control toolkit. The product is ideal for cost-effective and automated Diginet master control applications and for channels that don’t require DVE moves or scene transitions beyond just a cut but do need to support advanced processing applications while addressing FCC requirements at the same time.

Station group engineers and consultants have been standardizing their Diginet master control designs using Cobalt’s 9922-FS/BBG-1022-FS broadcast signal processor. System deployment is made simpler with key optional features being available including easy-to-use monitoring and control options including: GPIO, SNMP, XML, SCTE 104, DashBoard, and an embedded HTML5 web-GUI.

Cobalt’s Ethernet configurable hardware platforms combine the flexibility of a high-performance FPGA and DSP design with a broadcast-centric toolkit of field installable licenses, or software-defined Features.

The base 9922-FS/BBG-1022-FS unit is 3G/HD/SD-SDI/Composite I/O frame synchronizer and analog / AES embedder/de-embedder. The possibility to upgrade the product with a wide range of video functionality including noise reduction, up/down/cross conversion and standards conversion has made the product popular for use in OB trucks, fly-packs and other rental packages. Units configured with the factory installed -DSP daughter board also add advanced audio processing options.

The platform technology on which the 9922-FS/BBG-1022-FS is built allows systems to be scaled as needed and provides future protection for your investment. The unique set of highly integrated features include functionality designed to meet FCC requirements including loudness leveling (CALM), auto text-to-speech (21CVAA) and emergency alert crawls and voice overs (EAS). Another example would be the ability to auto trigger logos on and off in addition to other user definable actions via incoming SCTE 104 messages as opposed to relying on GPIs like traditional designs require.

Units equipped with the factory installed -DSP daughter board support optional Linear Acoustic UpMax up-mixing, Dolby loudness processing and Dolby E/AC-3/E-AC-3 encoding and decoding. Automatic functions and processing open up new system designs possibilities.

Cobalt’s range of video capabilities in this product is equivalent to what used to be accomplished by multiple products. The unit supports up to four discrete 3G/HD/SD-SDI inputs that can be SMPTE RP-168 clean switched between. In order to make the product even more valuable to your protected airchain design, a clean and quiet switching option is offered and passive relay protected rear I/O options are also available.

openGear is a hardware, firmware and software ecosystem that provides simultaneous and seamless support for unique products from multiple manufacturers.

Users have the added flexibility of adding routers, multiviewers, IPTV streaming encoders, and even Nielsen and Closed Captioning encoding support to their Cobalt Diginet master control systems all in the same 2RU frame.
