Theatre Gilles-Vigneault Opens With NEXO Speakers And Yamaha CIS

The newly-constructed 850-seat, municipal-use Theatre Gilles-Vigneault in Quebec City recently received a sound system installed by XYZ Cultural Technology, featuring a NEXO GEO S12 and ID24 speakers in the theatre and a Yamaha Commercial Installation Solutons CIS system for its foyer and lobby area.

“NEXO was included in the requirements list since the city of St-Jerome already had a similar NEXO system in a municipal theatre located at the local college,” says Michel Lapointe, account manager, XYZ.

“Satisfied with the NEXO system at the other location, the city wanted a new system that would be compatible. The customer is very happy; the system sounds very natural.”

The three-level theatre includes 510 orchestra level seats, 20 lodge seats, 190 mezzanine seats, and 160 seats in the balcony. Primarily used for music, dance, comedy and theater productions, the NEXO system is configured with 16 NEXO GEO S1210, four GEO S1230 and two NEXO LS18s flown as L & R clusters for the main PA, as well as three RS18 Ray Subs located in a central position under the stage, four NEXO ID24 speakers, three NXAMP 4×4, three NXAMP 4×1 amplifiers and a Yamaha MRX7-D processor, all running on a Dante network.

The Yamaha CIS system located in the foyer is connected to the theatre via Dante and is configured with a Yamaha MTX5-D processor, six Yamaha VSC4 speakers for the ceiling, two VXS5 surface mount speakers and three Yamaha DCP1V4S wall control panels. The CIS system was chosen for its Dante capabilities, unobtrusive style, and natural sound.

“The NEXO and Yamaha systems are a really good audio combination; the sound experience is impeccable. We give it a 10 out of 10!,” Stéphane Jolicoeur, technical director for the theatre says
