The SVG Podcast: Fox Sports Director Matt Gangl (Plus We Break Down the NFL Draft)

Veteran director shares his experience at his first World Series and how technology is shaping his job

Fresh off his first World Series, Matt Gangl is one of the rising stars in sports-video production. As a director for Fox Sports, he has served as lead director on everything from last October’s epic Fall Classic to the MLB All-Star Game and college basketball. He also still enjoys his longtime gig as director of Minnesota Twins baseball and Minnesota Wild hockey for Fox Sports North in the Twin Cities.

On this episode of The SVG Podcast, we chat with Gangl about his career, his recent experience directing a game in the MLB Puerto Rico Series, how technology is changing the way baseball is produced, and what it has been like to follow in the steps of a legend like Bill Webb as lead baseball director for Fox Sports.

Also, we are joined by SVG Chief Editor Jason Dachman, who discusses what he saw behind the scenes at last weekend’s NFL Draft. We’ll look at how the event has evolved since leaving the cozy confines of Radio City Music Hall and put the microscope on the competing productions by ESPN and NFL Network/Fox Sports.

The SVG Podcast is for the sports-video–production professional looking to keep up with the latest in sports-video–production operations and technology. The program features interviews with some of the biggest, most influential names in the sports-video business talking trends and topics that are making an impact on the industry.
