Karate Combat League Hires Mark Labbe as Chief Technology Officer

Mark Labbe has been hired by Karate Combat as Chief Technology Officer. In this role Labbe will lead tech, development, and engineering for the new martial arts league and sports media company. Among Karate Combat’s many innovations, Labbe will oversee the continued development of the proprietary Heads Up Display and sensor technology which gives the audience live fight analytics, and biometric and DNA-based data — creating an engaging, video game-like experience for viewers. He will also oversee karate.com, the Karate Combat apps, and live streams.

Labbe is known as a technology leader with experience in ad-tech, e-commerce, consumer goods, publishing, and high-performance computing. He has served as CTO at Jupiter Media, My Publisher, and ad tech company Local Yokel Media, which he led through to acquisition by Pubsquared in 2015. Most recently he has worked as VP of Engineering at the ad tech firm TruOptik.

“Karate Combat has developed an innovative platform,” says Michael DePietro, CEO of Karate Combat. “With the addition of Mark, we look to add additional features and scale to provide consumers a next-generation combat sport.”
