Republic of Ireland Public Broadcaster Tabs Arvato Systems for Rights Management

RTÉ, the Republic of Ireland’s public broadcaster, has commissioned Arvato Systems to implement its new broadcast traffic & rights management system. Arvato Systems, a specialist for IT solutions in the media and broadcast space, will fully implement its own solution, BMS Avatega, at RTÉ.

Avatega, including all its components and functions in rights management and program planning, will be used by RTÉ in the future. This channel management solution will handle both linear and non-linear rights management. An important requirement for RTÉ was the inclusion of the linear distribution channels, but also the recently launched application “RTÉ Player”, an on-demand video service providing news, sports, current affairs, and entertainment. And it is precisely this forward-looking overall approach that clinched the deal for Arvato Systems at RTÉ. In addition, Avatega scored highly with its multiple possibilities for seamless integration into the broadcaster’s existing IT systems.

With the introduction of Avatega, RTÉ will also redefine its internal workflows and business processes: “We no longer want what we do to be determined by the limiting requirements of a system. Rather, we want to implement our business processes as we live and expand them,” explains Kevin Wilson, Project Manager for the Channel Management System rollout at RTÉ. “Avatega provides us with the functionality we need to make the most of our program rights across all programs, audiences, and formats”.

“We are delighted to have brought on board RTÉ, the most important program producer and provider in the Irish media business, and to have gained their confidence in our solutions and services,” says Alexander Franke, Sales Manager Broadcast Solutions at Arvato Systems. The successful project kick-off took place in July 2018. The go-live is scheduled for the 2nd quarter of next year.
