NAB NY 2018: JVC Professional Video Presents New 4K UHD Monitors, SFE-CAM Dockable Bridge
At 2018 NAB Show New York (October 17-18 at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York City), JVC Professional Video (Booth N333), a division of JVCKENWOOD USA Corporation, will introduce two new 31-inch UHD/4K LCD monitors to support growing 4K workflows. In addition, the company announced the SFE-CAM Dockable Bridge, a Dual Link bonded LTE uplink that connects directly to its 800 and 900 Series cameras.
31 Inch. UHD/4K Monitors for Broadcast, Live Production
Ideal for critical video applications in the studio and on location, the affordable monitors feature 10-bit panels and 14-bit color processing to ensure high-quality image processing and display. The DT-U31, previewed earlier this year at the 2018 NAB Show, offers UHD (3840×2160) resolution, while the DT-U31PRO offers full DCI 4K (4096×2160) native resolution.
Both monitors support HDR functions, including Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) and PQ-3 formats, and a range of camera log LUTs including S-Log, C-Log, and JVC’s J-Log. Color gamut support includes BT709 and BT2020, with auto calibration possible via an external X-Rite sensor probe. Calibration can be performed directly from the front-panel USB connection, so the monitor does not need to be removed from its installation.
A new zero latency image processing mode creates minimal delay, which is ideal for lip sync monitoring. Both monitors include 12G SDI or quad 3G HD-SDI input, as well as HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2 for 4K input support. Users can also display four independent SDI sources in quad view mode for broadcast monitoring applications, and additional connectivity options are available for legacy sources.
Other features include convenient front panel controls with dual speakers, AC/DC power with integrated battery port, and on-screen tools including tally and 16-channel audio meters, waveform monitor, vectorscope with line selector, and histogram. The new DT‑U models also include an expansion slot for future options, including a fiber-to-SFP adapter. The DT-U31 is priced at $4,995 will be available in November, while the DT‑U31PRO will be priced at $8,495 and be available in early 2019.
Dockable Bridge Simplifies Live Broadcasts With Camera-Mounted Dual Link Bonded LTE Uplink
The dockable bridge bridge supports live HD streaming from multiple JVC cameras to HD-SDI decoders or IP video server at the station, as well as Facebook Live or other CDNs.
Featuring Peplink’s patented SpeedFusion VPN Bonding technology, the SFE-CAM Dockable Bridge combines multiple cellular, wired, and Wi-Fi connections to create a robust and secure VPN connection. An upgraded version of the ProHD Dockable Bridge introduced last year, it is ideal for live ENG reports or webcasts.
The self-contained SFE-CAM Dockable Bridge, positioned between the battery and ProHD GY‑HM850/890 or CONNECTED CAM GY-HC900 camera body, plugs into the camera’s USB or LAN port for a clean, professional look. It can also be detached and used with other IP-enabled CONNECTED CAM, 4KCAM, ProHD, and JVC PTZ camera models. Plus, the SFE-CAM Dockable Bridge functions as a secure, battery-powered hotspot in the field, and its Wi‑Fi‑First feature bonds to local or public hotspots when available to reduce cellular data charges.
Equipped with dual cellular modems with redundant SIM slots, the SFE-CAM Dockable Bridge accepts SIMs from Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and Sprint. It aggregates up to four different network links (LTE x 2, plus Wi-Fi or Ethernet), and supports global LTE coverage for worldwide operation. Other features include internal MIMO high-efficiency antennas, two RJ-45 connectors for wired LAN/WAN connections, and a built-in GPS receiver for tracking the unit’s location with the ProHD Bridge Command Center.
“The SFE-CAM Dockable Bridge Bridge is the best choice for stations that rely on run-and-gun coverage,” says Edgar Shane, general manager of engineering, JVC Professional Video. “It connects directly to our 800 and 900 Series cameras, so you don’t need to carry additional equipment. You get a reliable, convenient, and affordable live broadcast alternative to microwave and satellite.”
Available in versions for Anton/Bauer or V‑mount batteries, the SFE-CAM Dockable Bridge is available now and has an MSRP of $3,495.
