Object Matrix Targets Modernization, Monetization of Sports-Content Workflows

The Sports Video Group is pleased to welcome Object Matrix as a corporate sponsor. The multiple-award–winning UK-based software company has pioneered Digital Content Governance (DCG), object storage, and modernization of digital-video workflows. The company’s media-focused private- and hybrid-cloud solutions bring economic and operational benefit to all customers and also helps them stand out from the crowd.

Object Matrix’s flagship product, MatrixStore, is built on object-storage–technology software that provides protection and governance for the lifetime of any digital content. The company focuses its resources, expertise, and solutions on the global media industry, and its technologies and services are used by some of the world’s biggest organizations that create, curate, and distribute digital video content.

“Sports broadcasters are facing growing challenges around the monetization of archive content whilst also keeping a growing and passionate fan base engaged with amazing content delivered across multiple channels,” says Object Matrix co-founder Nick Pearce. “To do that, they require storage platforms that can deliver that content on demand with minimal total cost of ownership, thus bringing operational and financial benefits to the organization. Traditional archive methods do not provide the speed of access required and are difficult to manage, which is why organizations are looking at cloud models, private and hybrid, to satisfy their workflow demands.”

Object Matrix has helped many customers, including the BBC, gain instant access to sports archive content since 2010. The company’s solutions are used by DAZN, MSG-N, and Miami Heat in workflows ranging from nearline and backup in Avid workflows to DR and business-continuity solutions. Its flagship product was also used as a nearline in EVS and Avid workflows by the BBC and Channel 4 in the UK during the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

Object Matrix is currently adding more functionality to its MatrixStore and Vision products, enabling sports organizations to implement hybrid archive workflows while benefiting from a more intelligent storage platform (automated IMF workflows and single-pane-of-glass content management). Hybrid storage workflows combine the power, intelligence, and security of on-premises object storage with the elasticity and global collaboration afforded by public-cloud platforms.

“Object Matrix is excited to be working with the Sports Video Group, further [demonstrating] our commitment to listening to the media industry’s challenges to build solutions and services that can help to resolve them,” says Pearce. “Our media-focused private- and hybrid-cloud storage solutions are tightly integrated into sports-archive workflows and therefore bring a lot of economic benefits to the customers we serve.”
