AJA Video Systems Introduces New Video Solutions, Software at InterBEE 2018

AJA Video Systems (Booth #7205) is exhibiting four new products at Inter BEE 2018:

8K Solutions
The first 8K workflow demonstration showcases the AJA FS-HDR, a powerful real-time universal converter and frame synchronizer designed for processing high-resolution high dynamic range (HDR) and wide color gamut (WCG) content. Using free AJA FS-HDR Control Link software, four synchronized FS-HDRs are capable of running 8K HDR transformations. The real-time workflow display includes 8K 60p HDR conversion and frame synchronization from 8K content provided by a Keisoku Giken KRS-8K Plus player, which houses four AJA Ki Pro Ultra Plus units. The 8K HDR content is then sent over 12G-SDI to AJA Mini-Converters which convert to HDMI for connection to a Sharp 8K HDR monitor for trade show attendees to view.

A second 8K workflow demonstration utilizes the new AJA KONA 5, which is capable of 8K resolution capture or playout via four 12G-SDI outputs at up to 60p frame rates. KONA 5 is shown running alongside Colorfront’s Transkoder, outputting 8K content from an HP PC workstation over 12G-SDI to four AJA Mini-Converters which drive a second 8K Sharp display. KONA 5’s 8K capability is available to Developer partners utilizing the AJA SDK.

KONA 5
In addition, the KONA 5 is now shipping. KONA 5 is a video and audio I/O card supporting the latest 12G-SDI I/O and HDMI 2.0 monitoring video connections, designed for workstations or Thunderbolt 3-connected chassis. KONA 5 enables single-cable 4K/UltraHD high frame rate, deep color, and HDR workflows with the most popular creative applications on macOS, Windows, and Linux. For Developers using the AJA SDK, KONA 5 also offers advanced features including multi-channel 4K I/O and 8K 60p support.

Highlights include:

• 12G-SDI I/O and HDMI 2.0 output for 4K, UltraHD, 2K, HD, and SD with HFR support up to 4K 60p at YUV 10-bit 4:2:2, and RGB 12-bit 4:4:4 up to 4K 30p

Desktop Software v15
Also, the Desktop Software v15 is now available as a free download for KONA, Io, and T-TAP products.

The update adds interoperability for KONA 5 with a range of creative applications from Adobe, Apple, Avid, Telestream, and others via AJA’s integrated application plug-ins and drivers.

Additionally, the Desktop Software v15 update introduces new AJA Control Room full-screen playback and host system audio monitoring, enabling media assets to be previewed in Control Room via a computer monitor and speakers without AJA hardware attached. This update allows facilities to use the free macOS, Windows or Linux application as a stand-alone professional software player for high-quality media up to 4K resolution. KONA HDMI customers can also now use the system audio output and full-screen playback to monitor audio and picture from incoming HDMI sources without the need for a separate output device.

Desktop Software v15 also includes valuable enhancements across the full range of KONA and Io products, plus T-TAP.

v1.1 Firmware
Lastly, the company has introduced v1.1 firmware for its IPR-10G-HDMI Mini-Converter, which enables SMPTE ST 2110 IP video/audio to HDMI. Available as a free download, the update adds support for UltraHD up to 30p and integrates new improvements for discovery, registration, and control.

The compact and fanless IPR-10G-HDMI Mini-Converter receives SMPTE ST 2110 over 10GigE connectivity and formats the data for output as video and audio on a full-size HDMI interface, with simultaneous analog audio output via an RCA interface.

New v1.1 firmware for the device includes:

• Support for 10-bit, 4:2:2 uncompressed UltraHD (3840 x 2160p 23.98, 24, 25, 29.97, 30)
• Discovery, registration, and control

  • Ember Plus (Control only)
