As NASCAR Crowns Champ, NBC’s NASCAR Hot Pass on NBCSN Offers Deeper Look at the Race for the Title

Alternative viewing option focuses on the four contenders for the championship

NASCAR crowns a champion this weekend, when the 2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series and Xfinity Series Championships rolls into Homestead-Miami Speedway. And NBC Sports is all over the grand finale with more than 20 hours of trackside coverage, including Sunday’s big Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Championship (3 p.m. ET, NBC).

Kyle Busch is one of four drivers still in the running to win the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup this weekend. NBC and NBCSN carry the race this Sunday from Homestead-Miami.

Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick, Joey Logano, and Martin Truex Jr. make up the “Championship Four” racing for a title on Sunday, and NBC has special broadcast plans to cover the entire race field while offering bonus coverage around the final fight for the Cup.

On the main broadcast network, NBC will offer its classic coverage of the race, providing the full primary view of the action. Meanwhile, on NBCSN (also beginning at 3 p.m. ET), for fans who want a deeper dive into how the Championship Four are doing, NASCAR Hot Pass will offer unique camera angles and an exclusive announce team covering the action from a championship perspective.

“This gives an opportunity to get a different sense of the race, based on those four cars and a multiscreen option,” says Sam Flood, executive producer, NBC Sports Group. “Ultimately, the bigger story is going to be told on NBC. The place to be when it comes to the backend of the race is on NBC, but this second option on NBCSN will be a good opportunity for some folks that are into those four cars alone.”
