Daktronics Furnishes the University of Miami’s Carol Soffer Football Indoor Practice Facility, Neil Schiff Tennis Center With LED Video Displays

Daktronics has partnered with the University of Miami to design, manufacture, and install two new LED video boards on campus in Coral Gables, Fla.

The university’s new Carol Soffer Football Indoor Practice Facility features a video board measuring approximately 11.5 ft. high by 21 ft. wide installed earlier this month. It features 4mm line spacing to bring visual elements to Hurricanes practices and special events.

Neil Schiff Tennis Center will also be receiving a visual upgrade with a video board measuring 17 ft. high by 33.5 ft. wide to be installed later this year. This product will feature 10mm line spacing.

“We are excited to partner with Daktronics again on these two great projects,” says Tim Wise, senior associate athletic director of facilities and event operations for University of Miami Athletics. “Continuity throughout our facilities from a visual and operational perspective is important and this will provide us that opportunity to be consistent. We are looking forward to showcasing these two new video boards in our facilities to enhance both the student-athlete and fan experience.”

These new video boards bring the opportunity to show live and recorded video as well as statistics, graphics, animations and sponsorship messages throughout events. They employ wide viewing angles for mass appeal to the crowds of fans in attendance.

Inside the practice facility, having a large screen allows for assistance with coaching and teaching aspects of the game to the athletes. The screen will also serve as a dynamic backdrop to enhance recruiting efforts. Special events will also benefit from the added experience of the high-resolution display system.

The tennis video board brings visibility to the action happening on the court. It can also keep fans informed and help them follow along with every play.

“It’s an honor that the University of Miami selected Daktronics as their display provider once again,” says Mike Kempany, Daktronics sales representative. “I am very excited to see the reactions of fans, coaches, staff, and donors as these displays light up their respective venues.

“The upgrade from a standard tennis scoreboard to one of the largest and tightest resolution displays in collegiate tennis will transform Neil Schiff Tennis Center in magnificent ways. The Carol Soffer Football Indoor Practice Facility will sport one of the highest resolution displays in this type of facility. Daktronics thanks everyone at the University of Miami for letting us be part of these tremendous campus endeavors.”
