Nevada’s Green Valley High School Adds New Daktronics Football Videoboard

Green Valley High School in Henderson, Nevada, installed a new video and scoring display from Daktronics last September. The stadium’s 23-by-41-foot video display provides the Gators with a professional-grade entertainment system and creates opportunities for student learning and increased sponsorships.

“Games have taken on a whole different life,” says Green Valley High School Principal Kent Roberts. “We are able to offer a much different, and I would say better, game-day experience than any of the schools in our area. The graphics are top-notch and really add a level of entertainment that you couldn’t get any other way.”

The video display sits atop an LED football fixed-digit scoreboard. Together, the displays fit together to provide fans with clear, bright statistics, graphics, live video and instant replay from any seat in the house.

Students in the school’s video production and photography classes have been working on creating the display’s content for game day. While familiarizing themselves with the system, they have also been looking ahead to the future of the display’s use.

“Students created lists of content ideas they are going to produce using Photoshop and After Effects in their classroom,” says Raymond Ortiz, assistant principal for graduation, facilities and zone variances. “The kids took turns working the replay, scoreboard, camera and serving as game day director and are creating rules for the hierarchy within the press box.”

Earlier in the year, Green Valley High School purchased an LED scorer’s table to simplify control of its indoor scoring displays, which Ortiz said has created new options for providing information to the crowd.

“Our scorer’s table in the gym has amplified our school spirit and crowd interaction with player headshots, dynamic crowd hype videos and program promotions,” says Ortiz.
