NBC Sports Group President Pete Bevacqua Expands Role; Takes on Olympics, Production, and Operations

The move comes as boss Mark Lazarus takes over NBCU’s East Coast-based content businesses

NBC Sports Group President Pete Bevacqua is taking over the entire NBC Sports Group portfolio, adding NBC Olympics, production, and operations, among others, to his areas of responsibility, the company announced today.

Bevacqua, who was named president of the Peacock’s Sports Group in September, had already been managing programming, marketing, digital, golf, and the NBC Sports Regional Networks. He continues to report to Mark Lazarus, chairman, NBC Broadcast, Cable, Sports and News, and will remain based in Stamford, CT.

The move, effective immediately, comes as Lazarus has added oversight of NBCUniversal’s East Coast-based content businesses, which comprise NBC News Group, CNBC, and the Cable Entertainment portfolio, NBC Sports Group, NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations, and NBC Affiliate Relations.

“Pete’s impact to NBC Sports and to our company in general has been significant and immediate,” Lazarus said in the announcement. “He is a proven leader in the sports industry and complements our talented team.”

Said Bevacqua, “Since joining the organization last year, it has become readily apparent why NBC Sports is the gold standard in sports media. I’m excited to keep working closely with Mark and this great team to provide continuity and growth to this exceptional business.”

Bevacqua joined NBC Sports Group from PGA of America, where he served as CEO from 2012 to ’18. Previously, he had been global head of golf, Creative Artists Agency (CAA Sports); chief business officer, USGA; and managing director, U.S. Open Championship.
