HBO’s Real Sports With Bryant Gumbel To Spotlight Daredevil Cameramen of Extreme Sports

HBO’s Real Sports With Bryant Gumbel will return for an all-new episode on Tuesday, April 23 (10 p.m. ET) that includes a spotlight on the daredevil camera operators of extreme sports. Jon Frankel interviews a handful of the most daring cameramen in extreme sports, who, with their athleticism and Evel Knievel-like mentality, brave the ultimate risks in pursuit of the perfect angles.

Whether scaling a treacherous mountain or going into the belly of the world’s most challenging wave, extreme sports cameramen exhibit remarkable athleticism in pursuit of the perfect shot. The segment, produced by Jordan Kronick, will profile these risk-takers, who display the same bravery as the athletes they cover, taking terrifying risks to capture images of some of the world’s most dangerous sports.

Frankel will interview:

  • Jimmy Chin, mountain cameraman, Won best documentary Oscar for “Free Solo”
  • Larry Haynes, water cameraman at Pipeline, the most dangerous wave in all of surfing
  • James Boole, one of the last great wingsuit cameramen still alive.
  • Jeb Corliss, one of the best wingsuiters in the world.
