2019 Sports Emmys: Fox Sports’ David Neal Recaps All-Encompassing Coverage of the 2018 FIFA World Cup

The 2018 FIFA World Cup was a massive production on an international scale. Although tasked with the responsibility of producing all linear broadcasts from Russia, Fox Sports stepped up to the plate and offered non-stop digital coverage on its app and social-media channels.

At the 2019 Sports Emmys, David Neal, FIFA World Cup executive producer, Fox Sports, received the Outstanding Trans-Media Sports Coverage Award and caught up with our Brandon Costa about the broadcaster’s strategy to bridge the gap between home and abroad, telling a compelling story without the aid of the United States Men’s National Team and working within the confines of their resources.
