Global T20 Canada League Appoints Mediapro as New Global Consultant

Mediapro has been appointed as the global consultant to Global T20 Canada League, the ICC-sanctioned limited overs cricket tournament that runs through to August 11 at the CAA Centre in Brampton, Ontario.

The three-year deal global consultancy agreement is a wide-ranging global collaboration involving five Mediapro Group business units: Mediapro Middle East, Mediapro Canada, Mediapro Asia, WTVision India and Mediapro HQ in Barcelona, Spain.

Global media rights distribution will be managed exclusively by Mediapro Middle East, with the support of Mediapro Asia and Mediapro HQ in Barcelona. Mediapro Canada is providing all audiovisual equipment and technical crew for the 2019 event, while WTVision India is producing all TV graphics and managing the big screen and live streaming distribution. The Group is adivising Global T20 Canada on sponsorship and advising on content.

Live coverage of the event will be aired worldwide to a potential global audience of over 150 million households by broadcasters including Star Sports in India, the UK’s Premier Sports, Sportsmax (Caribbean), Willow (USA), Sky (New Zealand), Astro Cricket (Malaysia and Brunei), Kwesé Sports (Sub-Saharan Africa). In Canada, coverage is shared by TSN and ATN.

The Global T20 Canada League, the first ICC-sanctioned T20 league in North America outside the Caribbean, runs from July 25th to August 11th. Six teams, the 2018 champions Vancouver Knights, Toronto Nationals, Montreal Tigers, Winnipeg Hawks, Edmonton Royals, and Brampton Wolves will play a total of 22 matches, including three playoffs and the finals.

Similar in format to other limited-over cricket leagues, including the Indian Premier League (IPL), the most popular cricket league in the world, the Global T20 Canada League will feature a host of international stars among its rosters, including veteran Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh (India/Toronto), Faf du Plessis (South Africa/Edmonton), Chris Gayle (Jamaica/Vancouver), Sunil Narine (Trinidad & Tobago/Montreal) and Shahid Afridi (Pakistan/Brampton).

Mediapro Canada will cover the 22-match series with Alto, its 53’ OB unit, and will utilize 28 cameras, 36 EVS channels, multiple graphics platforms as well as a range of specialty cameras including two stump cameras, two drones, two robo cameras, two super slo-mo cameras and one Ultra slo-mo. The crew will comprise 60 broadcast professionals who are cricket experts from around the world, representing 11 different countries.

The Global T20 Canada League’s first edition, in 2018, reached more than 50 million cricket fans around the world, and Gurmeet Singh, chair of GT20 Canada has promised to deliver a “bigger, better and stronger cricketing spectacle this season”.
