Samford University Revamps Stadium With New Daktronics LED Display, Audio System

Daktronics has partnered with Samford University to bring a new audiovisual system to F. Page Seibert Stadium on campus in Homewood, Alabama. The installation is taking place this summer and will be ready to entertain Bulldogs fans when the season starts this fall.

“We are excited to open our 2019 home football schedule with this new state-of-the-art video board and sound system,” says Hal Langston, executive associate athletics director for operations at Samford University. “This investment in our stadium will have a profound impact on the game-day experience for our alumni, fans, students and student-athletes. In addition, it will certainly have a very positive impact on recruiting as we continue to play in the competitive Southern Conference. We are grateful to those who helped make this possible.”

The new LED video display will measure approximately 25 feet high by 70 feet wide. It will feature a 13HD pixel layout to bring crisp, clear imagery with wide-angle visibility to appeal to fans in every seat of the stadium. It will also incorporate industry-leading environmental protection to be operational during wind, rain or sunshine.

“The new audio and video systems will take game day at Seibert Stadium to another level,” says Glen Marts, Daktronics sales representative. “We’re thankful for our long-standing partnership with Samford University as we continually strive to provide them with the best products and services for their needs. This installation is no exception and we’re excited to see it in action this season.”

The display will be capable of variable content zoning allowing it to show one large image or to be divided into multiple zones to show any combination of live video, instant replay, up-to-the-minute statistics and game information, graphics and animations, and sponsorship messages.

A Sportsound 1500 audio system will be integrated into the video and scoring system at Seibert Stadium. The system provides full-range sound reproduction and delivers clear and intelligible speech so fans can keep up with all the action on the field.

Daktronics will also be including its Show Control System, which provides a combination of display control software, video processing, data integration and playback hardware.

A fixed-digit scoreboard and delay of game clock will be included with the installation to complete the game-ready environment at the stadium for Samford University.
