The Active Archive Alliance Adds Iron Mountain, Qumulo to Members List

Iron Mountain and Qumulo have now joined the Active Archive Alliance. Iron Mountain stores and protects billions of valued assets, including critical business information, highly sensitive data, and cultural and historical artifacts. Qumulo offers users the ability to scale workloads across on-premises and the cloud. Qumulo’s modern file system architecture delivers the economics of archive storage with built-in intelligent read/write cache to deliver the performance needed for billions of files accessed by hundreds, or even thousands, of users.

“We are pleased to welcome Iron Mountain and Qumulo to the Active Archive Alliance,” said Peter Faulhaber, chairman of the Active Archive Alliance and President and CEO of FUJIFILM Recording Media U.S.A. “Today’s fast-paced archival data growth is spurring demand for active archives as organizations seek to reduce storage costs and ensure archival data is accessible and protected. Iron Mountain and Qumulo bring unique perspectives to the Alliance’s multi-vendor initiatives, which offer end users technical expertise in implementing active archive solutions for intelligent data management.”

The vast volumes of data created daily, coupled with the opportunity to derive value from that data, is making active archives an increasingly important part of organizations’ data management game plans. An active archive leverages an intelligent data management layer and enables online access to data throughout its lifecycle regardless of which tier it resides in the storage hierarchy. Active archive file systems span all pools of storage, whether they are SSDs, HDDs, tape or cloud.

“Like all the members of the Active Archive Alliance, Iron Mountain is committed to helping IT leaders understand and implement modern strategies to solve data growth challenges,” said Amy Krofssik, director of product marketing, data management solutions for Iron Mountain. “In today’s world of growing data volumes, data migration challenges and impact to IT budgets, we’re excited to join an Alliance missioned to help IT leaders better manage data overall, while maximizing total cost of ownership and ROI.”

“At Qumulo, we recognize that active archives are essential in helping organizations manage and gather insights from massive volumes of unstructured data,” said Molly Presley, global product marketing director for Qumulo. “Our file system manages data from high performance ingest into all-NVMe storage across the storage lifecycle into active archive storage on prem or in the AWS and GCP clouds.”
