Justin Hathaway Becomes VP of Content for NBC Sports Bay Area, NBC Sports California

NBC Sports Bay Area and NBC Sports California have announced the appointment of Justin Hathaway as Vice President of Content, effective immediately. Previously, he was the networks’ Senior Director of Digital Media. The announcement was made by Matt Murphy, Senior Vice President and General Manager of NBC Sports Bay Area and NBC Sports California, to whom Hathaway will report.

In his new role, Hathaway will oversee the strategy and development of NBC Sports Bay Area and NBC Sports California’s comprehensive and growing portfolio of multi-platform content including live events, programming, digital media, news, and original content, across online, mobile, and social assets. The content will focus on the networks’ core programming: MLB’s San Francisco Giants and Oakland A’s, NBA’s Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings, NHL’s San Jose Sharks, MLS’s San Jose Earthquakes and NFL’s San Francisco 49ers and Oakland Raiders.

“Justin brings extraordinary depth and breadth of experience in creating exceptional content for sports fans across multiple platforms,” Murphy said in announcing Hathaway’s promotion. “His proven track record of leadership, deep sports media knowledge and his collaborative spirit make him uniquely qualified to lead our networks’ content creation. I’m confident that Justin and his Content team will continue to produce even more dynamic, engaging content across all platforms and devices for years to come.”

Hathaway joined NBC Sports Bay Area and NBC Sports California in July 2018 as Senior Director of Digital Media. Prior to joining the networks, his vast experience in sports media includes Editor in Chief for DraftKings, Senior Manager, Digital/Editor in Chief for NESN, Senior Editor for NFL Media, and Assistant Sports Editor for The Florida Times-Union.
