SVG Summit 2019: NBA 2K League’s Matt Arden, Blizzard’s Pete Emminger Outline the Future of Esports in 2020

There’s no denying that esports has cemented its status in the mainstream after notable improvements in 2019. With new arenas like Esports Stadium Arlington, HyperX Esports Arena Las Vegas at the Luxor, and the upcoming Fusion Arena for the Overwatch League in 2021, there is room for even more growth that has yet to be tapped into, but as the esports market continues to explode with contributions from leagues, sports franchises, and other entities, what should this new ecosystem expect in 2020? At The SVG Summit (Dec. 16-17, New York City), the immediate future of esports will be broken down by two executives at the frontlines.

Blizzard is responsible for major esports activations including the Overwatch League Grand Finals and their biggest event of the year, BlizzCon

Moderated by SVG Chief Editor Jason Dachman, a panel — titled “Esports 2020: Where Is the Industry Headed?” — will take place on Day 2 on Tuesday, Dec. 17 within the Trianon Ballroom of the New York Midtown Hilton from 10:45 to 11:15 a.m. ET. The discussion will include Matt Arden, head of content and media, NBA 2K League and Pete Emminger, VP, global broadcast, Activision Blizzard Esports.

The session will address trends that the business may face in the coming months, how the sector can maintain their upward trajectory, and on the flip side, how this period of success may affect the production landscape of more traditional sports.

In 2019, the SVG Summit marks its 14th year as the place to be for those involved in any aspect of sports production, content creation, or distribution. Once again it will bring together more than 1,000 industry professionals from across the country and around the world for two full days of networking, panel discussions, and more!

In its second season, the NBA 2K League is enjoying an enhanced sense of popularity and has gained headway overseas with the inaugural European Invitational in London this December.

The event will be highlighted by informative workshop tracks covering a wide range of industry market segments and production disciplines. There will also be a general session track on Tuesday, Dec. 17 that will bring together the biggest names in sports TV for lively panel discussions.

If you or your company are involved in sports production for broadcast distribution, venue operations, college or team operations, asset management, digital, and more then make sure you join us at the New York Hilton Hotel beginning on the morning of Monday, Dec. 16.

Along with numerous workshop tracks will be the opportunity to meet with more than 70 exhibitors who will be displaying their latest products and technical solutions for the sports production professional.
