B/R Enhances Live-Streamed Offerings on National Lacrosse League as the Two Sides Expand Media Partnership

In second season on B/R Live, NLL matches will add real-time stats, embedded microphones, and more to live broadcasts

The National Lacrosse League and media partner Turner Sports have unveiled a series of broadcast and live-streaming enhancements ahead of the league’s new season, which is set for face-off on Friday. It marks the second season that NLL matches will live-stream on Turner’s B/R Live direct-to-consumer sports-streaming product, and, this year, those matches will include new tech like real-time statistical integration, a refreshed graphics package, embedded microphones, and additional shoulder programming.

“The NLL has been a great partner,” said B/R Live GM Hania Poole in an official release on Monday. “We look forward to bringing fans another season of fast-paced pro-lacrosse action exclusively on B/R Live. These programming enhancements will add to the viewing experience for our audiences and underscore the exceptional value fans can get from the B/R Live Pass.”

To provide those enhancements, Turner Sports and the NLL will be rolling out new features for live match coverage: SportLogiQ, the league’s integrated, real-time stats and data-tracking platform; more uses of NLL Wired, which allows referees to wear microphones and offers fans live access to listen in on rulings and official reviews; and expanded pre/postgame shows for every match.

“We spent the offseason listening to our fans and working hard to refine and enhance the viewing experience for our second full season on B/R Live,” said NLL Commissioner Nick Sakiewicz. “We think these additional best-in-class assets will make the engagement experience for consumers second to none on any device they choose. The stories of our athletes, the athleticism displayed during the game, the drama that will be portrayed will be on display more than ever before, thanks to the innovations we are adding to the live coverage each week.”

According to both the NLL and B/R Live, the league has seen positive growth as a streaming offering. According to the release, digital viewership rose last season through the NLL’s partnership with B/R Live. Total unit sales (up 151% from last year), average unique viewers (+27%), and average minute audience (+14%) increased last season, the league’s first on B/R Live.

B/R Live will offer a free-preview window of all live NLL games Nov. 29–Dec. 7.  The full season will then be available as part of the B/R Live Pass, in addition to a single-game pay-per-view option.
