Panasonic Readies Video Processing for 2019 SVG Summit

At the SVG Summit, Panasonic will showcase its video processing platform at tabletop #53. Panasonic has been developing its open architecture system where video processing is GPU based and input/outputs are provisioned based on overall bandwidth planning to leap ahead of IT trends that have emerged in video production. This system is IT and IP at its core, following SMPTE 2110 protocols, but it can also easily be adapted to support SDI (up to12G). User interfaces follow best practices from popular desktop programs and is suitable for a broadcast production, screen management or a bit of both.

“Every TD or engineer who has spent time learning how the system works seems to find a new application specific to their work,” said Mike Bergeron, product manager, Panasonic. “We are excited to showcase the system to sports professionals at SVG.”

The demonstration at SVG has been built using Panasonic’s software on an off-the-shelf server, connected to a Mellanox IP switch that handles the video essence over 100GB ethernet. Individual Inputs and outputs are managed with both ST2110 and SDI gateways. The control system and interface run on a GB Ethernet utilizing windows clients which will include a 2ME hardware panel being developed. The official launch will take place in April at NAB 2020 in Las Vegas and the product is targeted to deliver version one this summer.
