American Cornhole League, ESPN Pen New Multi-Year Deal

The American Cornhole League (ACL), the originator of competitive cornhole, has signed a new multi-year contract with ESPN to extend their presence on the network. Since the original deal in 2016, audiences have embraced the growing sport, starting with the Championship of Bags in 2017. ACL coverage has grown over the last two years to 9 events and over 30 hours of original programming across ESPN platforms. The ACL has thrived as enthusiasts and pros across the country pick up their cornhole bags, in part due to the spotlight ESPN has shone on the sport.

The original three-year pact brought the American Cornhole League into the fold with ESPN as a part of their regular telecasts, helping to lend credibility and prestige to the sport. As a result of the increased exposure gained through the relationship with ESPN, the American Cornhole League has increased prize money each year. The Johnsonville Cornhole Championships more than doubled in 2019 and is expected to more than double again in 2020. With over 50,000 active cornhole players showcasing its popularity, the expectation is that ESPN will continue to highlight the game across a variety of ESPN platforms.

“Our collaboration with ESPN has not only helped to further legitimize the sport of cornhole, it’s given us exposure to a wide audience of sports fans to appreciate the game,” said Stacey Moore, Commissioner and Founder, American Cornhole League. “We’re looking forward to continuing to grow the game and bring all of the amazing action to ESPN’s viewers.”

The American Cornhole League hosts competition and tournaments across the amateur, collegiate, and pro ranks with thousands of players taking part every year.
