Matrox Extends Partnership With Xilinx

Matrox is expanding collaboration with long-term partner Xilinx to integrate advanced processing functionality into the Matrox QuadHead2Go multi-monitor controller product line. Leveraging a dedicated Xilinx field-programmable gate array (FPGA) to accelerate all processing operations, Matrox QuadHead2Go cards and appliances enable customers with a powerful and comprehensive feature set—including capture, scaling, cropping, rotating, and more—to build highly-customized, easy-to-deploy video wall designs.

“Matrox QuadHead2Go is the perfect marriage between our renowned video wall expertise and Xilinx’s industry-leading silicon technology,” said David Chiappini, executive vice president of research and development at Matrox. “Backed by a high-performance Xilinx FPGA, QuadHead2Go provides customers with an optimal combination of performance, flexibility, and adaptability to fine-tune and tailor video walls for any commercial or control room environment. We are excited to see this partnership flourish and bring new video wall design opportunities to our customers.”

“Xilinx is thrilled to extend its collaboration with Matrox to develop a premium multi-monitor and processor offering for the video wall market,” said Ramesh Iyer, director of pro audio, video and broadcast BU at Xilinx. “Featuring Xilinx’s 16nm FPGA technology, Matrox QuadHead2Go is a remarkable video wall platform for customers to effortlessly deploy and scale video walls as required, while simultaneously offering a deeper, personalized layer to take installations to the next level. Xilinx’s 16nm technology is at the heart of video-over-IP products in Pro AV and broadcast, enabling Matrox to deploy an entire line up of value-add products.”

Elegant, feature-rich video walls
QuadHead2Go Q185 DisplayPort input and QuadHead2Go Q155 HDMI input controllers capture a single video signal—of up to 4Kp60 and 8Kx8K—for display across up to four screens, at resolutions up to 1920×1200 per output. The input content could be from any source, while displays can be arranged in a variety of artistic configurations or classic rectangular 2×2, 2×1, 3×1, 4×1, 1×2, 1×3, or 1×4 setups. Each output can be further personalized to have its own resolution, be independently rotated, cropped, upscaled, downscaled, and positioned anywhere. In addition, QuadHead2Go units can be used together to easily build ultra-large video walls under any operating system, including Microsoft Windows 10, and Linux.

Matrox QuadHead2Go multi-monitor controllers will be in action at ISE 2020 (booth 11-D120).
