Dublin’s Aviva Stadium Implements Three New Daktronics LED Displays

Daktronics continued a partnership with Aviva Stadium to install three new LED displays totaling more than 400 square meters in Dublin, Ireland, ahead of the UEFA Championships in 2020. The new displays complete a fan experience improvement plan that began with two north-end video displays being installed in 2017.

“We have amazing events at Aviva Stadium which are supplemented by sound and visual experiences,” noted Martin Murphey, stadium director for Aviva Stadium. “Enhancing the fan experience is essential. Even though we are a relatively new stadium, we have invested in the new Daktronics HD screens to provide exceptional images of the action on the pitch.”

The south end display measures 5.85 meters high by 18.65 meters wide. One ribbon display sits above the tunnel entrance to the pitch and measures 0.73 meters high by 4.02 meters wide. The main stadium ribbon display measures 0.73 meters high by 393.90 meters wide. These displays join two identical north end video displays each measuring 5.85 meters high by 14.99 meters wide.

All of these display feature 13HD pixel layouts to bring exceptional image clarity and contrast to every seat in the stadium. The north and south end video displays are capable of variable content zoning which allows each display to show one large image or to show multiple zones of differing content.

“When we started discussions for the additional and upgraded screens, the team at Aviva Stadium made it very clear Daktronics was the right choice to compliment a truly magnificent stadium,” said Ewan Prentice, Daktronics regional manager. “We are all very honored that the team at Aviva Stadium trusted Daktronics to help deliver a truly world-class fan experience at a world-class stadium to world-class fans.”

Daktronics included its powerful Show Control System with this installation. This system provides a combination of display control software, world-class video processing, data integration and playback hardware that forms a user-friendly production solution.

The installation is supported by Daktronics on-island maintenance facility in Ennistymon, Co. Clare, Ireland. The company also has a service partnership with an Irish electronics specialist company, ION Solutions, that provides on-site support to Aviva Stadium.
