Entry Window for 2020 SVG College Sports Media Awards Opens Feb. 14; Introducing Reformatted Short-Form Category

12th-annual CSMAs to be awarded during a ceremony on May 29 at SVG College Summit in Atlanta

This week, the entry window for the 12th-annual SVG College Sports Media Awards in association with NACDA (CSMAs) will open, and the competition to take home college-sports video’s most prestigious awards will be on!

The Sports Video Group (SVG) and the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) will begin accepting entries on Feb. 14 at www.collegesportsmediaawards.com.

The deadline to enter this year’s competition is April 23.

This year’s competition features a reboot of one category featured across all four divisions. The previously named “Promotion Video: Hype, Open, Tease, PSA, or Marketing Campaign” category has been renamed “Short-Form Fan Engagement” and will encompass short form content pieces including hype videos for in-venue videoboards, social media, and more.

The SVG College Sports Media Awards in association with NACDA recognizes the best in college sports-video production, celebrating those who have pushed the envelope and set a higher standard for the quality of live and pre/postproduced college sports-video content.

Winners and finalists will be honored during the SVG College Sports Media Awards in association with NACDA Ceremony on May 28 at the 2020 SVG College Sports Summit (May 27-29, Omni Hotel at CNN Center, Atlanta).

This year’s awards will be given in four divisions across five categories:

  • Collegiate Conference Offices and Governing Bodies
  • Collegiate Athletics
  • Collegiate Student

Short-Form Fan Engagement


Those who have entered the SVG College Sports Media Awards in association with NACDA should note one key change to the rules and entry procedures:

  • Renamed “Short-Form Fan Engagement Category”
    Previously called “Promotion Video: Hype, Open, Tease, PSA, or Marketing Campaign,” this division will abide by the following rules:
    Short-Form Fan Engagement (time limit of minimum 15 seconds to two (2) minutes per individual entry, six (6) minutes for campaigns) – Video in any form for any purpose directed at creating an action by a consumer or fan. This includes any video created for the purpose of marketing and branding (such as a PSA), or for promotion or sales. This category encompasses message-based videos created for the purpose of promoting a coach, player, sport, announcer, employee, and university or league athletic program, or upcoming events for the purpose of tune-in, sales (tickets, ads, booster), charity, public service, image, awareness of a brand, accomplishments, championships, outstanding athletic and academic achievement, facilities, benefits, etc. Distribution can include in-stadium videoboard, linear television, social media platform, streaming/OTT platform, mobile application, or hard copy (not for sale). For those entering a series of promos to represent a campaign, the maximum is four (4) related promos (total six (6) minutes) per entry.
