Bill McKechney of F&F Productions Retires after 40 Years

Bill McKechney, Vice President of Engineering, F&F Productions, has announced his retirement after 40 years with the company. “McKechney has been an intricate part of F&F and has earned the trust, loyalty and respect of our clients across the country”, says George Orgera, President/CEO, F&F Productions. “He will be missed.”

Bill McKechney, VP of Engineering at F&F Productions, is retiring after spending 40 years working with the company.

McKechney began his career in Miami, FL as a member of Channel 7 Miami engineering staff and worked freelance as a video operator for Orgera when Orgera was at WTOG Miami. He joined F&F Productions full time in 1980 where he was the Engineer-in-Charge for the GTX-1 mobile unit. He quickly moved into the role of Chief Engineer by the mid-1980s and then into VP of Engineering in the late 1990s.

In his 40 plus years in the broadcasting business, McKechney has seen and brought many broadcasts to life.  One of his most memorable moments includes designing and building his first mobile unit, the GTX-4, F&F’s first expando unit that debuted at the first game played at Joe Robbie Stadium, and it was also ESPN’s first NFL football game and the NFL’s first live game on cable.

“It was a great experience and one of the many proud moments I have had at F&F”, says McKechney.  His career has taken him far and wide, being part of Super Bowls, World Series, Olympics, NFL & College Football, Masters Golf Tournament, NCAA Final Four, Live Aid, the 100th Anniversary of the Statue of Liberty, numerous entertainment shows and so many others, earning himself four Emmy awards in the process.

“Living up to the F&F motto of always make sure our clients have everything they need to produce a perfect show has made it an honor of a lifetime to work with some of the best teams in the industry and on many a perfect show”, says McKechney.

“During his tenure at F&F, Bill has helped guide us through many changes in the broadcast landscape; overseeing many technology & design milestones from analog to digital and into the HD world, he is now handing the reins over as we enter the IP world”, says Marc Orgera, Vice President/General Manager. “It has been a pleasure having him part of our team.”
