Seen on Screen: NBC Sports To Crown ePremier League Champion This Weekend; CBS Sports To Debut Off The Hozzle Golf Show on May 4

Seen on Screen provides a roundup of the current sports programming landscape as networks deal with the impact of the coronavirus pandemic. In this week’s edition, major networks like NBC Sports, Fox Sports, and ESPN are combating the silence of no live sports with previously-released, taped, or archival content. Many networks have also continued producing live studio content – often with on-air talent located remotely.

NBC Sports, in collaboration with Sky Sports, have presented the ePremier League Invitational Tournament, a weeklong EA Sports FIFA 20 Tournament with representatives participating from all Premier League clubs. The 20-team single-elimination tournament began on Tuesday, April 21, with all matches streaming live on NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app and now, the semifinals and the final match will be streamed live on Saturday at 10 a.m. ET, with an encore presentation on Sunday, April 26 at 10 a.m. ET on NBCSN.

Sky Sports, in collaboration with Gfinity, will host the event. Sky’s Saturday SocialAdam Smith and Joe Thomlinson have presented the matches, joined by Harry Pinero.

Among the players that have competed in the ePL Invitational Tournament included Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Todd Cantwell (Norwich City), Ryan Fredericks (West Ham United), Diogo Jota (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Raheem Sterling (Manchester City), and Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace)…

…CBS Sports Network’s new golf series, Off The Hozzle, will debut on Monday, May 4 at 8:30 p.m. ET. A new episode will be available every Monday until the season finale on June 1.

The series stars stand up comic Dave Hemstad and golf broadcaster Mark Zecchino as they take their rivalry to the golf course. The pair met as teenagers and have had this rivalry ever since.

Fox Sports: The Home Game continued on Wednesday, April 22 at 8:30 PM ET on FS1, produced remotely. This week, host Chris Myers was joined by NFL defensive ends Calais Campbell and Cam Jordan, who put their sports and pop culture knowledge to the test…

Starting on Monday, April 20, players including Rainbow Six Siege reigning world champion Troy “Canadian” Jaroslawski, Counter-Strike world champion Tyler “Skadoodle” Latham, and Fortnite World Cup runner-up Harrison “psalm” Chang will compete in the tournament, produced in part by Greenlit Content, live on the ESPN Esports Twitch channel

…On Monday, April 20, beIN SPORTS premiered the first episode of a new digital show, Checking in with Kaylyn Kyle. The digital series is part of beONE, the network’s new initiative offering entertainment and activities for sports fans to stay engaged and be #HealthyatHome while worldwide social distancing guidelines are in effect.

Viewers can join Olympic Champion and former Canadian National Team star Kaylyn Kyle as she connects with familiar names and faces from the world of sports. The new approximately 10-minute digital show gives fans a rare glimpse into an athlete’s everyday life as Kyle and her guests talk sports, life, and discuss the challenges of being housebound. Special guests such as Christine Sinclair, Kyle’s former teammate, two-time Olympic bronze medalist, and world’s all-time leading international goal scorer for men or women, twin professional soccer players Michael and Will Keane, Real Betis’ Borja Iglesias, and Minnesota United’s head coach Adrian Heath are set to make appearances on the show which will be available on beIN SPORTS’ Facebook page every Monday at 6 p.m. EST.
