Tennis Channel Relies on Ross Mobile Productions During Last Weekend’s UTR Pro Match Series

The Los Angeles-based Tennis Channel broadcasted complete, live coverage of a three-day men’s tennis event in West Palm Beach, Florida, marking the first competition on U.S. soil between ranked players since the professional sport went on hiatus in March. The UTR Pro Match Series presented by Tennis Channel; took place May 8-10 and featured two top-10 ranked American players. Next, a similar women’s event is set for May 22-24 with three top-10 Americans, as Tennis Channel’s 2020 (Re)Open Tour returns live tennis to fans around the world.

The network is partnering with Ross Mobile Productions (RMP), Ross Video’s mobile productions division that offers full-service production packages and rental services. Last weekend’s event saw RMP deploy a range of Ross solutions at the venue, including two Cambot robotic pedestals, although it is important to note that both competitions followed stringent safety precautions. They were held at a private court without spectators or public access, and contained singles matches only. Players provided their own drinks and towels, and each weere given his or her own set of marked balls for use during the match.

“It’s been a tough couple of months for sports fans everywhere,” says RMP’s General Manager Stephen Repass before the matches. “We have all missed the entertainment, excitement, and camaraderie of live sports, so I’m pleased we’re in a position to help kickstart the recovery and bring some live action to tennis fans around the world. I suspect it’s going to be a long time before we’re back to anything resembling ‘normal’, and we’re taking every possible precaution, but every event like this must be a cause for celebration and optimism.”
