The Mediapro Studio Snags Co-Production Seal With Back Roads Entertainment

Back Roads Entertainment, the American unscripted production company, has announced a co-production partnership with The Mediapro Studio, the global production company of Mediapro Group focused on creation, development of fiction, and non-fiction high-quality content and distribution.

Under the deal, Back Roads will work with The Mediapro Studio to develop and produce original formats for the US market to be released on broadcast and cable networks as well as on streaming platforms. Back Roads will also adapt in the US key content from The Mediapro Studio’s extensive portfolio’s formats.

“The Mediapro Studio is a global giant everything from production to distribution and a leader in content creation for the US, Latin American, European, and Spanish markets,” says Colby Gaines, executive producer and founder of Back Roads Entertainment. “As we continue to prioritize formats, this partnership provides us a wonderful opportunity to both develop and adapt new content stateside and expand our creative reach internationally.”

The companies are already working on their first project together, The Magnificent 6, a new competition format that picks six elite athletes, masters of their domains of power, speed, and agility, against mere mortals attempting to become one of them. With fame and fortune at stake, The Magnificent 6 must defend their positions as they compete with average individuals in over-the-top physical challenges across outrageous sets.

“In Back Roads Entertainment we have found the ideal partner in the US to expand our formats’ footprint beyond our traditional markets,” says Daniel Burman, head of content for The Mediapro Studio U.S. “We are convinced that working together on The Magnificent 6 we will take the genre of competition TV shows to a new level”.

The news comes hot on the heels of an already busy year for Back Roads. Most recently, the company relocated to Austin, Texas, and hired former September Films Managing Director Pamela Covais to oversee their robust production slate.

The Mediapro Studio has celebrated its first successful year of activity with the recent launch of the international fiction series the Head, a six-part psychologist thriller, premiered on June 12 in 30 markets of Europe and Asia and ready to extend distribution at a global level. Recently, the company has premiered in Argentina the series Los Internacionales on Telefe; in Finland and Spain the series The Paradise, a Nordic noir that got a 40% share in its premiere in Finland; and in Spain the series Go Juan (TNT), Vis a Vis: El Oasis (Fox), the fourth season of The Ministry of Time (TVE) and Caminantes (Orange). The company has currently ongoing several projects including fiction series, films, and unscripted programs.
