Brad Zager on FOX Sports’ Google Cloud Partnership: “Google Approaches Everything in a User-First Way”

Earlier this month, FOX Sports announced it is working with Google Cloud to automate one of the most manual processes in media and entertainment: logging, discovering and storing video assets.
Speaking with Sports Video Group during its SVG Sports Content Management Virtual Series last week, FOX Sports’ Executive Producer, EVP/Head of Production & Operations Brad Zager shared why this is such an important partnership as the technology developed promises to make the organization and utilization of video media content will be more dynamic and simpler than ever.
“We wanted tools to help us and there’s no better company in this world when it comes to search than Google,” says Zager, who oversees all live event production, pre- and post-game shows, operations and creative services for FOX Sports. “Their DNA is search and that’s what we needed. There’s no enterprise solution for this global consumer [search] solution that [they’ve] given. Google just approaches everything in such a user-first way and that was the coolest part. It wasn’t approached in a technical way. Google really understood our vision to approach this in a consumer production way and what’s easiest for people at their fingertips.”
