Teradek’s New Ranger Offers Zero-Delay, Wireless 4K Video

Teradek is bringing its patented wireless technology to the broadcast and live production markets with Ranger, a zero-delay wireless video system that transmits uncompressed, 4K HDR video over ranges up to 5,000 ft.

Ranger utilizes Teradek’s exclusive RF technology and Joint Source Channel Coding (JSCC) to transmit uncompressed video and audio at less than 1 millisecond of delay. The JSCC approach to wireless video transmission enables full utilization of 40 MHz and 20 MHz channel bandwidths and offers much better handling of channel interference than competing HEVC / H.264 solutions.

Ranger operates over the 4.9 – 6.0 GHz band and is UNII-5 ready, allowing operation over 5.95 GHz to 6.45 GHz later this year. The system is capable of transmitting 4K, 10-bit, 4:2:2 HDR video up to 5,000 ft. line of sight and supports an unlimited number of simultaneous receivers,

When it comes to security, now more important than ever, Ranger offers AES-256 encryption using RSA 1024 key pairing over its wireless link, ensuring nobody can decrypt the wireless feed or connect receivers to the system without explicit authorization.

Ranger is not only a powerful wireless video solution, but it’s also easy to use. With a free mobile application for iOS and Android, Ranger can be configured quickly over bluetooth right from your smartphone or tablet. The application also includes a 5GHz spectrum analyzer and a performance analysis tool that provides insight into the health of your wireless link.

Ranger is now shipping and is available in 4K and HD models with Gold- or V-mount battery plates.
